Julie Chen Moonves, who was among the first hosts and moderators of The Talk (a Daytime Emmy Award winning talk show), returned to host The Talk on August 5th for its 22nd episode. However, her true passion came when she added writer to her duties, and was awarded an Emmy for it. Her excellent talk show brought the host an Emmy. She co-hosted the CBS News weekday morning show The Early Show between 2002 and 2010. In the past, she served as CBS Morning News anchor and hosts of The Early Show. Chen Moonves was assigned to Cairo in the aftermath of 9/11. There, she tracked down and talked to the father who commanded the hijackers in an eye-opening and fascinating interview. Chen Moonves has interviewed newsmakers including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Queen Rania of Jordan as well as former Defense Secretary William Cohen, and celebrities such as Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Viola Davis, Tom Hanks, Mary J. Blige, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Cruise, Ben Affleck, Barbra Streisand, Betty White, Jamie Foxx, Scarlett Johansson, Katie Holmes, Matthew McConaughey, Chris Rock, Mel Brooks, Robert DeNiro, and Jennifer Lopez. Chen Moonves is also a CBS Sunday Morning reporter, who has featured stars such as Jamie Lee Curtis. Before The Early Show she was a reporter with WDTN TV Dayton located in Dayton, Ohio (1995-1997). While completing her last academic year at the University, she served as an assistant at ABC News in Los Angeles (1990-1991) as well as the director of ABC NewsOne (the network's affiliated news service). Her first time working in broadcasting, as a Desk Assistant on ABC News' late-night show Nightline With Ted Koppel. Ted Koppel remains one of the journalists she admires. Chen Moonves collaborated with Koppel on the Columbia duPont-winning program Anatomy of a Riot which focused on events surrounding the Los Angeles riots of '92.
